Dennis is the fourth of five children and was raised in Waco, Texas. He and his wife, Celia, have been married for over 30 years. Dennis and Celia’s parents were of the Greatest Generation, having been raised during the Depression in rural Texas and Memphis, Tennessee. Each of their fathers served during WWII.
Dennis and Celia learned their parenting skills from parents who were committed to their families and to their marriages. Like most parents of the time, they learned by trial and error and without a great deal of formal education. Therefore, there were both positive and negative parenting behaviors. Both sets of parents, however, set the pattern of living their family lives as a “till death do us part” vocation.
Like many families, the tumult of Vietnam and the 60’s had its impact, as well. Family members have struggled with economic issues, job loss, death, divorce and substance abuse. Their families have also shared the joys of birth, childhood, graduations, weddings and grandchildren. Dennis and Celia have had the opportunity to learn from these life experiences, as well as from the experiences of wonderful friends and acquaintances.
While living in Southern California, Mississippi and Texas, Dennis and Celia have had the opportunity to witness and learn from many different lifestyles and parenting approaches. Throughout their marriage, they have remained constant in their belief of working as a team to raise their children to be healthy and whole human beings.
Dennis has led a successful business career and is currently an executive consultant specializing in Supply Chain and Operations management. As a business coach, one of his roles is explaining the cause and effect of complex systems to people of all educational levels. In order to achieve this effectively, he has developed a manner of communicating in an entertaining and compelling manner. Dennis’ management style also incorporates some of the lessons learned from fatherhood into the workplace, such as patience, tolerance, responsibility, and forgiveness.
Dennis is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University, a member of the Knights of Columbus and has been a guest speaker at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University. Dennis and Celia are the very proud parents of three grown children and one grandson. Dennis and Celia support a number of charitable and community organizations and are active members of their local church. They currently reside in Georgetown, Texas and enjoy spending their spare time traveling and on their ranch near Giddings, Texas.
